Mount Bromo

The Bromo is a volcano in Indonesia, located in the east of the island of Java, about 100 km south of Surabaya in the Tengger massif. It peaks at 2 329 m and its crater is 800 m in diameter and 200 m deep.

The Bromo is part of the National Park Bromo-Tengger-Semeru.

It is the most attractive tourist volcanic of Java. Every morning in high season, more than 300 tourists reach the crater by stairs located on its side.

From Surabaya, we took a train to Probolinggo. From there we took a public minibuse (20 000 Rp / pers) to Cemoro Walang - be carreful, take a yellow minibus between the railway station and bus station (2500 Rp / pers) from Probolinggo.

Cemoro Walang is the village closest to the Bromo. There is only one hour walk between the village and the volcano. We have therefore made in the afternoon which allowed us to be alone at the top of the crater.

The next morning, wahe up at 03:30 am to remake the Bromo do this with the crowd! We rent a 4x4 with 4 Swiss students to lower the price (6 people max per 4x4). We attend one super sunrise (see photos) from the view point of Mt Penanjakan.
