ARUBA - ARIKOK NATIONAL PARK
Geography
Arikok National Park of Aruba is huge for this small country. Indeed, the area is more than 20% of the country. It is located in the eastern part of the north coast of the island of Aruba.
Arikok National Park is very hilly and the climate is very dry. It seems like a desert.
Entry and Access
The entrance to Arikok National Park is free , and is open 24/24. However during the day from 7 am to 5 pm, guards stand at the entrance and other watch and ensures the safety of visitors (I saw some of them make the visit of the Fontein Cave).
To reach the Arikok National Park there are 2 possibilities. In one hand one entry is at the end of the road to the east from the center of Santa Cruz in the other hand one entry at the end of the road leading northward from Saint Nicolas. These entries are connected by road 7A/7B.
When I were in Aruba, The road 7A/7B was under construction, so it was not possible to join each entry through the park.
The best way to get around theArikok National Park is to have a 4*4 (Jeep). Because the road has no coating and is quite bad. Without the Jeep don't think to leave the main road. So to get the maximum fun, book a Jeep early before coming in Aruba.
to do, to see
There are many things to see in the Arikok National Park. If you like caves, gardens, deserts, beaches, old civilidations and walk in nature, then you will be happy.
