PUNO (LAKE TITICACA) PERU - PUNO (LAKE TITICACA)
PeruAt the bottom of its bay, at the North-western end of the lake Titicaca, with nearly 4000 m to altitude, Puno appears to the traveller like a cold and austere city.

The accesses of the lake, in particular close to the port, are there little engaging: waste grounds, abstract markets and carcasses of boats completing to rust make a table unworthy of the most navigable lake of the world, especially that for a few years, pollution has been added there, populating of a greenish carpet of algae the bottom of bay of Puno.

The attraction of the east city elsewhere: it resides in its narrow streets, constantly encumbered of an Indian market coloured which seems open day and night, with its souvenir shops, its many small restaurants or one will taste especially famous trouts of the lake and with its tourist facilities: agencies propose all kinds of excursions there on the lake or in the surroundings, there is for all the tastes and all the purses.
