INDONESIA - JAKARTA
Megalopolis of 9 millions people stretching over 25 km, Jakarta is the main city economic hub for business. Before, it was miserable and dilapidated, the city wants to introduce today the modern face of an Asian metropolis booming. Yet it attracts thousands of poor and, as long as the distance from the center, slums are still there. Jakarta is the most polluted city in Indonesia. Except from Merdeka Square, where stands the National Monument (Monas) with his golden top, Jakarta has no real center, making it difficult to explore on foot. Take a blue taxi, it's better ! Features: Old Batavia (Kota), the most ancient and precious evidence of the presence Holland in Indonesia, with its cobbled square, Taman Fatahillah. Because of the heat, noise and pollution, we have no courage to go to the port. It's horrible ... We advise not to spend more than 2 nights in Jakarta. For transfer by minibus from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, we recommend you take the train (8h instead of 12h by bus).
