INDONESIA - AMED - JEMELUK - LIPAH
The stretch of coast in the far east of Bali has acquired the name of Amed in traveller-speak, although this is actually just one village in an area of peaceful bays, calm waters and stunning coastal views. The Amed coast is an excellent place to arrange dives. There are plenty of diving operators in the area, all of which offer trips for certified divers. There are also some excellent snorkelling spots, including Lipah Beach and a Japanese wreck not far off the coast at Banyuning. 30 km at the north of Amed, there is Tulamben. It is a small fishing village. It is among the most popular dive sites on Bali since the wreck of the Liberty, a US Army Transport ship torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in 1942 lies just off shore. During high-season, up to 100 divers descend to the wreck each day. Hotel : Kembali Beach Bubgalows (350 000 Rp by night for 2 persons, breakfast included) = very good !
