INDONESIA - RINJANI (MOUNT)
The Rinjani is an active volcano on the island of Lombok. Its altitude is of 3 726 m. Its caldera contains a crater lake, the Segara Anak. The recents eruptions formed a small cone in the center of the caldera, the Gunung Baru (peak at about 2 300 m). In our passage is that it was erupting. Access to the summit of Rinjani was prohibited. The volcano Rinjani and Segara Anak are part of the Gunung Rinjani National Park. The area is famous for its trekking in a grandiose setting. Climbing Gunung Rinjani requires very good physical shape. The most classical form is a trek of 3 days / 2 nights, the peak being reached on the morning of second day. We have made the formula 2 days / 1 night because the summit was not available. We went through a trekking agency to make this climb: the Rinjani Trekking Club (RTC), we recommend it for its serious Rinjani Trekking Club - RTC We paid (guides, porters, cook, food, tent, mattress, sleeping bag, admission to the park, transportation betwen Senggigi and Senaru in 4x4, etc ...): 1 300 000 Rp per person.
